Dorothy Helen Nelson
Brainerd - Dorothy "Dottie" Nelson, age 95, lifetime resident of the Brainerd Lakes Area died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society Woodland in Brainerd.
Dorothy was born Oct. 23, 1914 in Motley to James and Doris (Jones) Fransisco. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. She was a charter member of the Brainerd Service League, longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and member of the Crow Wing County Historical Society.
Survivors include: daughters Debbie (Robert) Kanne and Nedra Torfin; son, Clint (Carol) Nelson; grandchildren, Natalie Kanne, Nicole (Joe) Park, Jenny (Troy) Peterson, Chevis (Kim) Nelson, Nathan Kanne, Matt Torfin, Jeff (Gwen) Torfin, Kelly (Phillip) Ukes, Dan Nelson, Monica Nelson and Tim Nelson; great-grandchildren, Trent Midthun, Joey Park, Bobby Park and Alexis Kanne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, C.L. (Clint) Nelson; half-sister, Lorna (Robert) Marshall and son-in-law, Jim Torfin.
Dorothy, a world traveler, has taken her final journey home. A friend to many, she loved people and lived life to the fullest. She was always thinking of others and touched all who entered her life. To her family, Dorothy was the epitome of class and style.
Dorothy and her family wish to thank the caring staff at Woodland Good Samaritan Village, The Abiders Ministry, Pastor Hans Anderson, Dr. Matthew Gervais and Dr. Ann Williams for their compassion and kindness.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with the Pastor David Holte officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church.
