Agnes Kelly Obituary Agnes Mary Kelly died on April 11, 2015. She was nearly 98 years old. Agnes was born on Chicago's Southside on April 24, 1917, to Mary and Richard Payton. She had a sister, Mary (Jack) Hines and a brother, Richard (Lorraine) Payton, both of whom preceded her in death. Agnes was married to Ted Kelly in 1940 and for most of her life was a resident of the Southside. She worked in the Loop as a secretary for much of that time. Ted preceded her in death in 1986. Agnes and Ted had 2 children, a son, Ted Kelly, and a daughter, Nancy (James) Freeman; she had 3 grandsons, Patrick, Jack and Tom Freeman. Agnes is survived by many nieces and nephews including Maryjo (Dave) Goeing, Kathy (Rich) Weideman, Richard (Roxanne), Edward and Joe Payton. She'll be remembered by all for her fierce loyalty and devotion to her family leavened by a wry and sometimes sarcastic wit. She enjoyed a long retirement in Brainerd surrounded by her family and friends and was a fixture at her grandchildren's school events, concerts and sporting events. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with visitation beginning the hour prior to services. Luncheon immediately following services at Prairie Bay Restaurant. Entombment will be on April 24, 2015 at St. Mary's Cemetery on her beloved Chicago's Southside.
