Emily Ingemansen Obituary Emily M. Ingemansen, 88, of Baxter passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Essentia - St. Joseph Medical Center in Brainerd. Emily was born Emily Marie Kari in Pine Lake Township, rural Finlayson, Minnesota, to Matti and Marie Kari. She was a resident of Baxter for 47 years. For the last two years, Emily was a resident of Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, Brainerd, where she enjoyed a comfortable home and received wonderful care. Emily graduated from Finlayson High School and business school in Duluth. She worked as a secretary in Duluth and later Minneapolis until she was married. After her children were in school, Emily returned to work as a clerk for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Brainerd. Emily married Andrew H. Ingemansen on September 22, 1951, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Finlayson. They were married for 38 years until Andrew passed away on June 24, 1989. Emily was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brainerd and was very active in service. She volunteered as church secretary, quilting group, circle ministry, and shared her strong faith. Emily was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Emily showed her love for her family by encouraging and supporting her children. She attended every school event, Dean's football games, many youth events at church, served as secretary for Job's Daughters to support her girls, and would always guide with wisdom and loving advice. Emily enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, cribbage, the Twins, and was a wonderful cook. She and Andy truly enjoyed their life on White Sand Lake in Baxter. They were generous with their hospitality for family reunions, holiday gatherings, and there were always brownies in the freezer for anyone who stopped by. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, husband Andrew, and nine brothers and sisters: Eino, Edna, Elma, Emil, Edwin, Elis, Ellen, Ernest, and Elmer. She is survived by her children: Daniel (Hannelore), Matteson, IL; Lynnae Forstner (David), Brainerd, MN; Mary Adelman (Jim), Avon, MN; and Dean (Maribeth), Edgewood, WA; and ten grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 27, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, 424 South 8th Street, Brainerd, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation is one hour before the service. Following lunch, burial will be in the Baxter City Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and will be given to faith-based organizations Emily supported during her lifetime.
