Opal M. Lander passed away on July 18, 2026 at Woodland Good Samaritan in Brainerd, MN. 

Born on October 26th 1930 to Lawrence and Mamie (Ronning) Thompson in Bigfork, MN. She married Leonard S. Lander December 20th 1950 and together they had 3 children, sons, Thomas and Timothy and daughter, Tracy. Opal had a long and loving life living mostly in Brainerd, MN since 1968. She had many interests during the years, loved taking road trips, cooking, quilting, reading and writing to name a few. She was a devoted mom and grandmother and was a great and caring friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard of 58 years; son, Tim and daughter, Tracy; as well as her parents; brothers, Lawrence and Lyle and sister, Clellie. She is survived by her sister, Virginia O’Neil; son, Thomas; daughter-in-law, Sandy (Tim) Lander, and grandchildren, Rory (Deirdre) Lander, Kristi Pink, Reed Lander, Stacy Lander, Sara (Russ) Riehbrandt, Rachel (Lee) Swanson and Christopher Lander as well as 13 great grandchildren. Interment service was held on Thursday July 23, 2026 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
