Alan Kraft Obituary Alan "Al" Wayne Kraft, age 91, of Brainerd, MN passed away on January 9, 2025. Al was born on February 27, 1933, to Elias "Al" Kraft and Besse (Niesen) Kraft in Pierre, South Dakota. The family moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1939. He attended St. Marys and Sacred Heart Schools before graduation from Central High School in 1951 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He served in the US Navy from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. After his return from the service, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1957 and his Masters degree in Secondary School Administration from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1959. He spent 18 years as a teacher and administrator at Hecla, Hosmer, and Leola, South Dakota as well as Burnsville, Minnesota. For 17 years, he served as the Training Officer for the St. Paul District United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was always a loyal South Dakotan and considered Aberdeen his hometown. He is survived by his wife Denise; his sister Mayren (Jack) DeCrans; his children, Debra (Mike) Kelly, Steven (Brenda) Kraft,Kendall (Ammie) Kraft, Kenneth (Mary) Kraft, Amanda Kraft, and Samatha Kraft; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Kenneth Kraft; two sisters, Marlys Stader and Jackie Vezzoli; a son Scott Kraft; daughter-in-law Susan Kraft; a granddaughter Kara Kraft; and his parents.
