Obituary

Alice Marie Schultz, age 76, of Nisswa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

Alice was born in Brainerd and grew up in Pine River, surrounded by a large and lively extended family who filled her childhood with togetherness and laughter. After high school, she met the love of her life, Jack Schultz, at the Purple Peanut dance hall.

Alice devoted herself to raising her family while also working for more than 30 years at the American Legion, where she was known for her hard work and kind smile. She was a hands-on mom and grandma, leading her kids' 4-H club, and she had a gift for gardening and canning. While her culinary range was modest—famous for three-bean casserole at every potluck —her food was always made with love.

Alice was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed countless games of solitaire, and, later in life, even took to Facebook to keep up with family and friends. Her greatest joy, though, was spending time with the people she loved most. Whether it was with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or her four-legged shadow, Penny, Alice's heart was fullest when her family was near.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack; daughter, Amy (Justin) Stahnke; son, Bill (Lisa) Schultz; grandchildren, Julia Stahnke, Alex Stahnke, Victoria (Josh Digiovanni) Schultz, Colten Schultz, Levi Schultz, and Mya Schultz; great-grandchildren, Weston and Hayden Digiovanni; siblings, Maurice McAllister and Connie (Pat) Peppin; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her family will hold a celebration of Alice's life on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 from 1-3:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Pequot Lakes.
