Arlene Jensen Obituary Arlene Evangeline Jensen (Olson), age 91, passed away on May 23, 2025 in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. She was born July 28, 1933 in Willmar, MN. She was the daughter of Carl Olson, a naturalized Norwegian immigrant to the United States who settled in Minnesota, and Selma Olson (Amundson), born in Swenoda Township, MN, also of Norwegian descent. Arlene was baptized and later confirmed in 1948 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, MN. She attended Willmar High School and graduated in 1951. Arlenes father owned Blossom Bakery in Willmar, MN where she worked her first job. On July 7, 1951 Arlene was united in marriage to Dennis Marvin Jensen at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, MN. After the marriage ceremony, she moved with her husband to Lake Charles, Louisiana where he was stationed with the US Air Force and where Arlene gave birth to their first daughter, Dawn. After his discharge in 1954 they moved back to Minnesota. Shortly after, she gave birth to their son, Dewayne. Her husband worked at a body shop in Benson, MN, and there she raised their children. Later they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where her husband attended college. While living there, Arlene worked as a telephone operator. After his graduation they moved to Landfall, MN where he began his engineering career. Arlene gave birth to their second daughter, Doreen. The family was getting bigger and they needed more room, so they bought a house in White Bear Lake, MN. His work also brought them temporarily to several different cities including Bay City, MI, and Hermantown, MN, and Pueblo, CO. At the age of 50, while living in Hermantown, Arlene decided to start a career of her own. She attended nursing school at the Duluth VoTech, graduating in 1983 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After returning to the Twin Cities, they bought a new house in Maplewood, MN. Arlene then secured a job at LensCrafters as an optometrist's assistant for a short time to get some experience and then spent years working as a nurse at Woodbury Villa Senior Living until she retired. They lived in the Maplewood house for 12 years. Shortly after they were both retired, they decided to build and move to their last home in Baxter, MN in 2000 where they enjoyed a very long retirement together. They traveled in their motorhome to many destinations; hosted many holiday celebrations with families; visited Norway and Denmark for their 50th wedding anniversary; and spent time with both longtime friends, and their numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years. Arlene enjoyed going to plays at the Old Log Theatre and other venues, attending high-school basketball games, and sewing. She also volunteered at the Brainerd Senior Center. In her later years, Arlene was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and eventually moved into a senior home to receive the care she needed. She enjoyed many visits with family and friends in the time since, especially from her husband who visited her almost every day. They were married for 73 years when he passed. She remained positive for so long, despite how difficult things became. She was strong and determined. Her regimented nursing background meant that she kept the staff on their toes, as she expected the best care and housekeeping. In her final years, she became close to the staff members who took great care of her. She will be deeply missed by everyone. Arlene was preceded in death by her lovingly devoted husband Dennis Jensen, her parents Carl and Selma (Amundson) Olson; and brothers Chester, Orville, and Robert. Arlene is survived her children Dawn (Richard) Bloedorn, Dewayne Jensen, Doreen (Russell) Stahlbusch; grandchildren Carrie (Brian) Roth, Jeffrey Bloedorn (Jennie), Edward (Chelsea) Stahlbusch, Karl (Kelly) Bloedorn, Emily (Zachary) Severson, Nathan (Alison) Lalim; great-grandchildren Zac and Jared Robles, Ardun Bloedorn, Jax, Otto, Niika, and Elma Stahlbusch, Sawyer and Harvey Severson, Natalie, Alyssa, Alayna, and Nicole Lalim; sister-in-laws Delaine Schmidt and Linda Jensen; along with many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home on June 6, 2025, from 8:30-9:30 am, followed by interment at 10am. Arlene will be laid to rest in a joint burial plot with her late husband at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - Little Falls, adjacent to Camp Ripley.
