Barbara Sande Obituary Barbara V. Sande, 93, Baxter, died Friday, January 27, 2017, at Northern Lakes Memory Care. Barbara was born August 23, 1923, in Crosby, MN to Frank and Mary (Vukelich) Vukovich. She married Donald W. Sande in 1941 and enjoyed 70 years together until Dons passing. They owned and operated several businesses in the Brainerd area including Sandes Cafe on Laurel Street. Barb enjoyed entertaining at their White Sand Lake home as well as bowling and playing bridge, smear, and poker. She was a member of the Brainerd Drum and Bugle Corp and with Don were very active with the Brainerd Elks Lodge for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Catherine Garland, Helen Needham, Marian Benest and one brother, Marko. Survivors include two sons, Terry Sande (Leanne), Meridian, MS, Brett Sande (Cheryl), Miltona, MN, and three grandchildren, Jeremy Sande, Joshua Sande, and Terren Sande. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday February 11 at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Baxter Cemetery with a graveside prayer following the luncheon. Flowers are welcomed and will be shared with the residents and staff of Northern Lakes Memory Care/Sr Living in appreciation of the care Barbara received during her stay.
