Bernard Koering Obituary BERNARD F. "BERNIE" KOERING, 84, resident of St. Mathias, died at his home Tuesday afternoon, November 11. Bernie was born in Brainerd September 14, 1930 to Gregory and Lula (Laugee) Koering. He served in the US Army Military Police. Bernie was employed by Crow Wing Power for 14 years and later retired as Line Foreman for Brainerd Water and Light. He was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed retirement and spending time mowing and maintaining his yard. Surviving are his children, Mike (Bernice) Koering, Tim (Lydia) Koering, Brad (Janell) Koering, Brenda (Matt) Cooper all of Brainerd and Paul Koering of St. Mathias; many grandchildren; brother, Harold Toby Koering and his special friend, Myrta Crackel. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louise in 2003, and his siblings, Margaret, Marion, Evelyn, Greg, Francis, Al, George and Wally. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday, November 17, 2014 at St. Mathias Catholic Church with Father Daniel Weiske officiating. Burial will be in St. Mathias Cemetery with military honors by Brainerd VFW Post # 1647 Color Guard. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Sunday with parish prayers 7 PM Sunday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Memorials are preferred.
