Betty Alderman Obituary Betty Ruth Alderman, 97, a longtime Brainerd resident, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00a.m., at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather an hour prior for a visitation. Luncheon to follow.
She grew up in Browerville and moved to Brainerd in 1948. Betty and her late husband, Jim, owned and operated Aldermans Hardware and Furniture Store in downtown Brainerd until it was destroyed by fire on February 26, 1987.
Betty was known for being heavily involved in civic and community activities. She was a member of the original Brainerd Businesswomans Club, served on the board of Heartland Symphony Orchestra, Lakes Area Concert Association and Brainerd Service League among others.
Bettys passion for caring for the older generation kept her involved as a leading fund raiser and volunteer for Brainerds Bethany Bowl. Her love for song and dance kept Betty involved with The Gerital Frolics from its inception in 1987 through its last performance several years ago.
Betty will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son Gary (Lynnette) Alderman; daughter Lynda (Douglas) Kirkham; grandchildren Jason (Claudia) Alderman, Tammy (Jeff) Everts, and Douglas (Jody) Kirkham, Nicole (Peter) Thibodeau; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim Alderman of 55 years; one sister and two brothers.
