Betty Caughey Obituary Betty M. Caughey, age 92, resident of Brainerd, died Friday, July 14, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Betty was born in Fort Ripley, Minnesota on August 23, 1924 to Sebastian and Margaret (Reed) Kramer. She married Norman Caughey in Belle Prairie on Oct. 29, 1949. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and took great pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her memberships included St. Andrews Catholic Church and the W.O.W.s Club. Surviving are her children, Peggy (Dale) Jensen, Linda (Jim) Wehseler, Bruce (Rosanne) Caughey, LuAnn (Dave) Smith, Tom (Debby) Caughey, Mary (Dave) Wixson, Tim (Pam) Caughey, Cammy (Dan) Yaunick and Jim Caughey; 39 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and in-laws including; Evelyn Caughey, Alice Caughey, Marion Siegel, and Bonnie (Lynn) Olson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Caughey, an infant grandson, Nicholas Scott Caughey; one sister; Leona (Kramer) Bernardy, and six brothers; Roy Kramer, Lloyd Kramer, Arnold Kramer, Lewis Kramer, Leo Kramer, and Hugh Donald Kramer. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, July 23, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Monday, July 24, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Brainerd. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
