Betty Lueken Obituary Betty Mae Lueken, age 92, of Baxter died on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Essentia Health St. Josephs Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. A visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Ripley.
Betty was born on April 14, 1929 in St. Paul to Ruth and Carl Holmes. After graduating from high school in Osceola, WI, she attended nursing school at the Franklin Hospital in Minneapolis. Upon graduating from nursing school, she married the love of her life, Richard Lueken, on September 12, 1948 in Scandia. While Betty was a nurse for 15 years, her and Richard had eight children together. Being a mother, nurse and wife as guided by the Lord was Bettys main focus in life. She was a phenomenal caregiver, mother and grandma. Betty had a special love for her family, including those with fur and four paws.
She is survived by seven children, Marcia Tompkins, Daniel Lueken, Ken Lueken, Hillary Lueken, Roger (Patty) Lueken, Paul (Jill) Lueken and Diane (Donald) DeWalt; son-in-law, Ted Kern; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lueken; daughter, Nancy Carkhuff-Kern; and grandson, Mac Carkhuff.
Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
