Bev was born on December 9, 1946, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to Alpheus and Arlene (Liebold) Brown. Bev grew up in Lake Hubert, MN and graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1964. Bev began her career in working at the Brainerd State Hospital caring for children and adults with special needs. Her career moved to in home daycare when her children were small and throughout their school years. Bev went to college and received her AA degree in 1988 and her BA in Psychology in 1991. She went onto to working providing supervision and direct care for adults with special needs and ended her career as a program director in the same line of work.
She was lovingly known as the family's "Plant Lady" because of her deep love for houseplants and the care she gave to each one. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending her vegetable garden, working in her flowers, and watching hummingbirds gather near her feeders. Her love of gardening and nature reflected her gentle and caring spirit.
Bev was a very caring person and would help anyone at any time. Through the years she was able to provide community service in a number of different areas. She was a campfire leader, 4-H leader, religious instructor, bible school teacher, volunteered with the American cancer society, community action, Brainerd senior high wrestling club, courage care day camp, sexual assault advocate, ARC Wright county and a part of the MN Prader Willie Association.
Bev adored her family, surrounding them with unwavering love, support, understanding, and compassion. Bev will be greatly missed by her children, Tina (Scott) Ebertowski, Bronson Hammerstad & Tara Hammerstad: her cherished 7 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren; and her siblings Barb (Jim) Boelter, Butch (Kathy) Brown, Mike (Jodi) Brown and Michelle Brown: many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike OReilly and her parents, Alpheus and Arlene Brown.
