Bonnie Moore Obituary Moore, Bonnie Jean (nee Christenson), age 88, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2013 at the Brainerd Good Samaritan Care Center - Woodland. Born March 12, 1925 in Brainerd, MN. Preceded in death by father Axel and mother Ruth Christenson. Survived by sisters Betty Austin and Donna (Ed) Bondy. Survived by her loving family. Husband George, daughter Patricia Johnson (Daniel) of Nisswa, MN, sons Thomas (Julie) of Mahtomedi, MN, and Richard of Minneapolis, MN. Also survived by grandchildren Dylan (Victoria) Johnson, Casey (Larry) Moen, William Moore and Lauren Moore, as well as great-grandson Griffin Moen. Bonnie graduated from Brainerd High School in 1943. She pursued her passion for music playing with the Brainerd Drum and Bugle Corps. Bonnie was employed in the Brainerd city clerk's office for several years, then Franklin Junior High until 1949, when she accompanied a close friend to Anchorage and found employment as a stenographer for the U.S. Air Force. In Anchorage, she met her future husband George, who was serving a two-year tour in the Air Force. Bonnie accompanied him to San Antonio, TX, where they were married in 1951. Shortly after, a new assignment found them at Scott A.F.B. in Belleville, IL. They settled in Brainerd after George completed his military service, and began a journey centered around his career in the retail food business. Stops along the way included Little Falls, St. Cloud, St. Paul, Forest Lake, and Alexandria. While in St. Paul, Bonnie worked for many years at Dayton's as a sales clerk and switchboard operator. They returned home to Brainerd in 1991. Bonnie loved her family, especially watching her children and grandchildren grow up. She also enjoyed trips to Pelican Lake, dining outnowhere more than at the State Fair--playing card games, and Big Band music. In recent years, Bonnie looked forward to day trips to the casino, where she was adept at finding the "hot" penny machine. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Daniel Weiske officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and will continue the hour before services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
