Burton Keen Obituary Burton Keen, age 102.99, entered heaven from a peaceful sleep on June 21, 2025, four days before his 103rd birthday. He was born in Minneapolis on June 25, 1922, the eldest of two children to Herman and Ellen Keen. His love of photography started as the West High School yearbook photographer and led to his final employment as the VP of Brown Photo. He was skilled in Morse code and followed Patton through Germany in WWII, sending messages for the US Army and sharing rations with the German children. His two years of high school German "qualified" him as a translator during the war. He loved his family and showed this by baiting hooks and cleaning fish for all who were too squeamish for the tasks but wanted to fish in the waters of Loon Lake near Pequot Lakes, MN. He was a gracious host and friends and family recall swimming and waterskiing at "the lake". He loved Jesus, was an avid stamp collector, and enjoyed sharing a cold craft beer. The family would like to thank the staffs at Riverview Retirement Community, Spokane, WA and Good Samaritan Society-Bethany in Brainerd, MN for their loving care and help during his final years. He will be missed by his 5 mostly retired children and their spouses, Larry & Colleen Keen, John & Claudette Knierm, Chuck & Karen Knierm, Mark & Nancy Potter, Mark Keen & Liz Gibson, 10 grandchildren, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, and too many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren to count. He is now reunited with his wife of 71 years, Avis, his parents, and his sister, June. His celebration of life will be at Dennis Drummond Wine Company at 11 am on June 28, 2025. Internment will be in the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Spokane, Washington.
