Carl Starkka Obituary Carl Elmer Starkka, 86, of Brainerd, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, at Essentia Health St. Josephs Medical Center. A Celebration of Carl's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Carl was born February 5, 1936, in Ludden, North Dakota, the son of Erikki and Maria (Havisto) Starkka. He married Vicki Hannahs on July 30, 1966, and they enjoyed 55 wonderful years together. Carl worked for North Pacific Burlington Northern Santa Fee for 33 years as a heavy equipment operator. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; brother, Raymen Starkka; sister, Lorraine Dunlop; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gloria Fitch, Violet Huro, Irene "Mildred" Zupon, and Helen Koski; and brothers, Roy Starkey, Ralph Starkka and Ernie Starkka. He will be sadly missed. Carls family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to his caregivers Dr. Reese, Dr. Stokman, all the nurses on 6th floor, and most especially, Dr. Tegan John.
