Obituary

Catherine Ann Daley, 76, of Breezy Point, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Friday, January 23, 2026.

A celebration of life honoring Cathy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to the service.

Cathy was born on October 8, 1949, in St. Paul Park, Minnesota, the daughter of Alvin and Ruth (Drury) Holton. She graduated from high school and later pursued additional education to become a certified Human Services Technician. Cathy devoted her career to caring for others, using her skills at Ah-Gwah-Ching Nursing Home in Walker and at Akeley Crossing. Her kind heart and caring disposition made her work a natural fit. Later, during her retirement years, she appreciated working at SuperValu in Pequot Lakes. It allowed her to make some new friends she held dear.

In 1972, after meeting on a blind date, Cathy married the love of her life, Tom Daley. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and relaxing together while watching Wheel of Fortune or HGTV.

Cathy cherished the Christmas season and took great joy in decorating her home to reflect her love of the holidays. Her wrapping of Christmas presents was almost a gift itself, beautifully finished with her homemade bows. These thoughtful touches reflected the care she put into everything she did.

Above all, her most important role was that of mom. She adored raising her son, Matthew, and instilled in him the virtues of integrity and hard work. Cathy also treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, who were true treasures to her.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Tom Daley; her adoring son, Matthew (Rebecca) Daley; grandchildren, Logan, Evan, and Jasmine; siblings, Larry (Pat) Holton, Charlie (Donna) Holton, Ann DeLong, and William "Bill" Holton; Tom's sister, Marie Chevre; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Ruth Holton; her sister, Marilyn; and her brother, Dennis.
