Charles Johnson Obituary Charles Richard Johnson Charles "Chuck" Richard Johnson, age 81, passed away at home on Thursday, June 24, 2010. He was born to Richard M. and Georgia (Frost) Johnson on April 5, 1929 in Brainerd, Minnesota. He attended public school in Brainerd from Kindergarten through Brainerd Junior College. He finished his education at North Dakota State College-Fargo in 1951, receiving his degree in Pharmacy. After serving in the United States Army for 2 years, he owned and operated Johnson's Rexall Pharmacy, and was there until 1974. He worked at the Brainerd State Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1994. His church meant a great deal to him. He was a lay leader for over 50 years, serving on the Vestry, as Junior Warden, and on many committees. He also loved gardening, poker, rummage sales, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Club and the R-F Club. Chuck is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ardie, six children, Richard "Jug" Johnson, Brainerd, Nikki (Cary) Shoutz, Crosslake, Thomas (Jackie) Johnson, Brainerd, "Betsy" Norman, Baxter, Edward Johnson, Minneapolis, and Laurie (Jeff) Schellin, Baxter. Grandchildren, Matt and Erin Christensen, Morris area, Heather Magnuson, Korea, Brady Schellin, Willie and Charlie Hollinbeck; Marah and Bryce Johnson; and Amanda and Emma McCulley, all of Brainerd; one sister, Shirlie Weagley, Overland Park Kansas and niece, Barb Carnes of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his faithful companions, Chi, Buffy, Rocky and Freckles. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 28, 2010 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brainerd with Father Tim Raasch officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #255 Color Guard. Visitation will be from 2-4 P.M. on Sunday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and the hour before services Monday at church.
