Obituary

Charles Wayt Obituary Beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and man of quiet strength. Charles "Chuck" Wayt, 74, of Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2025. Born on January 5, 1951, in Brainerd, Chuck was the son of Richard and Charlotte (Berg) Wayt. Chuck graduated from Brainerd High School in 1969 and earned a B.S. in Engineering at Bemidji State University in 1973. Chuck later earned his MBA from the College of St. Scholastica. His career spanned decades in engineering and manufacturing; he eventually transitioned into owning and managing rental properties. Chuck used his technical expertise, problem solving ability, and design aptitude to fix anything, blessing countless others through his skill and love. While Chuck was undeniably accomplished professionally, his greatest legacy is his role as a family man. Perhaps the most important moment of his young life came in 9th grade English class, where he met a classmate named Jane Anderson. From that moment on, Chuck and Jane were inseparable. They married in 1973 and spent the next 52 years building a life rooted in faith, family, and unwavering partnership. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A lifelong resident of the Mississippi River, Chuck shared his love of the outdoors with his family, and his grandchildren adored their "Bop Chuck" and all the things he taught them. The fun adventures he took them on, along with his quick wit, dry humor, and steady wisdom were gifts that brightened their lives. A man of quiet faith, Chuck loved his Savior Jesus Christ. His faith was not loud, but it was strong and constant. He was a man who led by quiet example, who listened more than he spoke, and who gave more than he took. His faith shaped the way he lived and gave him peace in his final days. He always said that the day he died would be his best day ever. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane; his daughter, Samantha (Brian) Lund, son, Andrew (Callie) and his grandchildren Aidan, Lucy, and Owen Lund and Cosette and Scarlett Wayt who were the pride of his life; and a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts. A service honoring Chucks life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Pastor Brian Lund officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at 9 a.m. prior to the service and stay for a luncheon immediately following. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
