Daryl Bartylla Obituary Daryl Jeanne Bartylla, age 73, of Brainerd, died on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Edgewood Vista Brainerd. Daryl Jeanne was born to Darrell and Dorothy (Kukich) Shanks on July 11, 1948 in Bethesda, MD. Her affinity for a toy chicken as a small child earned her the nickname "Chickie" amongst family and friends. After graduating from high school, she attended cosmetology school and worked in the cosmetology industry until pursing a career in sales and interior design. Known as "DJ" to her colleagues, she fast became known for her keen eye for decorating and organizing spaces. Throughout her career, her work could be seen in several magazines, but was most proud of her designs shared in Parade of Homes. She is survived by her three sons, Scott (Abbi) Rafinski of Windsor CO, James (Kristy) Rafinski of Elk River MN, and Nicholas Rafinski of Elk River; her brother Robert (Karen) Shanks of Chisholm, MN; and her grandchildren, Aubrey Rafinski and Wyatt Rafinski. She is preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Dorothy Shanks; her brother Michael Shanks and granddaughter Kirsten Rafinski. No services will be held at this time. Her remains will be honored in a private ceremony.
