David Ortega Obituary David Ortega, 74, of Brainerd, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2022, at Nelson Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. There will be a service of remembrance at 7 p.m. David was born December 17, 1947, in Houston, TX, the son of Thomas and Irene (Delgado) Ortega. After school, David was an accomplished mechanic who also worked in the HVAC industry. He was a sociable, friendly man with a big heart. He loved to fish but loved being with his family even more especially the children. After moving to Minnesota and adjusted to driving on our winter roads he fell in love with the state and his family here. And they adored him just as much. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Daniel Ortega and Lusiano Ortega; five grandchildren; siblings, Hope Ortega, Rudy Ortega, Arthur Ortega, Eilida "Lydia" Koering, and Linda Gloria; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, David Ortega, Jr.; parents; and siblings, Carmen Granado, Mary Lou Alexander, and Angel Ortega.
