Obituary

Dennis Dixon Obituary Dennis "Denny" Dixon, 80, of Baxter, MN, set sail on his final voyage on August 4, 2025, surrounded by the family who loved him beyond measure. Born May 9, 1945, Denny lived with a spirit as steady as his handshake and as bright as his ever-present smile. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy, including a tour in Vietnam, before embarking on a 32-year career with the railroad. A master electrician and master problem-solver, Denny had a gift for fixing more than just wireshe mended days, lightened moods, and inspired those around him simply by showing up with his can-do attitude. Denny was the friend who would be there in a heartbeat, the neighbor who always waved, the man who could make you believe that anything was "right as rain." He loved the oceans horizon and the feel of a sail in the wind with his son, Shawn, just as much as he loved cheering from the rail at horse shows with his daughter, Kacie. He and his wife, Donna, shared more than 55 years of laughter and lovea romance that might have started with a school fundraiser candy bar, but grew into a lifetime of adventures, late-night talks, and evenings spent together watching people conquer Mt. Everest from the comfort of their couch. Dennys joy for life was contagious, and his favorite phrase, "Finer than frogs hair," was less a saying than a way of livingfinding delight in the smallest things, and always appreciating the big ones. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son Shawn (Lora) Dixon; daughter Kacie Dixon; granddaughter Savannah; siblings Sharon Patterson, Bob (Connie Forsythe) Dixon, and Kip (Jodi) Dixon; and a wide circle of friends and family who will carry his legacy forward. He was preceded in death by loved ones who now welcome him with open arms. In lieu of memorials, Denny would want you to do something he believed in wholeheartedly: lend a hand, wear a smile, and start that bucket list today. A Celebration of Dennys Life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Nelson Doran Funeral Home with Military Honors at 4:00 p.m. A private family interment at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager will take place at a later date.
