Obituary

Dennis Jensen Obituary Dennis Marvin Jensen, age 94, passed away peacefully on Nov 27, 2024, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, Minnesota, surrounded by family. He was born October 7, 1930 on a farm in rural Belgrade, MN, the son of Sam and Mabel (Westergard) Jensen. He was baptized on November 2, 1930, and confirmed in 1945 at Crow Lake Lutheran Church in Belgrade, MN. He attended Belgrade High School and graduated in 1948. He continued his education at Dunwoody Industrial Institute in 1949. On July 7, 1951, Dennis was united in marriage to Arlene Evangeline Olson at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, Minnesota. They were blessed with one son and two daughters. After graduation, Dennis joined the service and was stationed at Lake Charles Air Force Station in Louisiana until 1954. In 1957, he returned to school attending Indiana Technical College and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He returned to St. Paul to begin his career at American Hoist and Derrick (later AmCycle Engineered Products). He was based in Minnesota, but company projects required travel to many states including Michigan, Colorado, California, and the Carolinas. Throughout the years, the family lived in many places including Landfall, MN, Bay City, MI, White Bear Lake, MN, Hermantown, MN, and then settled for a while in Maplewood, MN before moving to their last home in Baxter, Minnesota in 2000, after they had retired a few years prior. Dennis had many passions including riding motorcycles, working on cars at a young age, and spent much of his time volunteering later in life including helping to lead the senior center organization, being a treasurer for a church, and providing tax filing assistance for the elderly. Dennis had a long and fulfilling retirement with Arlene. They hosted many holiday celebrations with families, spent time with both longtime friends, and their numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years. Dennis spent some of his free time researching genealogy records to learn more about both the Jensen and Olson families and they traveled to Norway and Denmark for their 50th wedding anniversary to meet relatives and trace their ancestors. Dennis will be dearly missed. He was so kind and generous to those around him. His sense of humor was unmatched. Even in his old age, he was still driving the car most days to visit Arlene in the nursing home as her Parkinsons progressed. He was absolutely dedicated to taking care of her. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Mabel Jensen; brothers Delmer and Delno Jensen, and sister Darlene Painter. Dennis is a survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Arlene Jensen, as well as his children Dawn (Richard) Bloedorn, Dewayne Jensen, Doreen (Russell) Stahlbusch; grandchildren Carrie (Brian) Roth, Jeffrey Bloedorn (Jennie), Edward (Chelsea) Stahlbusch, Karl (Kelly) Bloedorn, Emily (Zachary) Severson, Nathan (Alison) Lalim; great-grandchildren Zac and Jared Robles, Ardun Bloedorn, Jax, Otto, Niika, and Elma Stahlbusch, Natalie, Alyssa, Alayna, and Nicole Lalim, Sawyer and Harvey Severson; sister Delaine Schmidt; sister-in-law Linda Jensen; and many nieces and nephews. A family viewing will be held at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home on December 12, 2024, from 10-11am. A private interment will be held at noon. Dennis will be laid to rest at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - Little Falls, adjacent to Camp Ripley.
