Donald Chisholm Obituary Donald "Donny" Edward Chisholm, age 75, of Fort Ripley, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at home with his wife and a daughter by his side. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd, with interment to follow at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - Little Falls at 1:00 p.m., and a celebration of life at the St. Mathias Park Pavilion.
Don was born July 16, 1948, in Brainerd, the son of Alex and Loreen Chisholm. After graduating from Brainerd High School in 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with the 82nd Airborne in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, while serving he was awarded the Bronze Star. He joined the Minnesota National Guard in 1984 and retired in 2002, the majority of the time with Range Control. Don also worked for the Brainerd School District for many years. He was dedicated in his service to our country, cared deeply about his family, and enjoyed woodworking. He had a heart of gold and was an extremely hard worker. He always had a joke ready.
Don will be dearly missed by his wife Therese ("Terri'), son Nathan (Karen Devick), and daughters Desiree (Ricky "Stubby" Tautges) and Tiffany (Chris Aasted). He is survived by his brother Jerry and sister Sharron Klose. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronny.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations may be made to the Brainerd Honor Guard.
