Dorene Banick Obituary Dorene A. Banick, 79, resident of Brainerd, died Friday, December 21, 2018 in Brainerd, MN. Dorene was born near Lastrup, MN on February 24, 1939. She grew up in rural Brainerd. She graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd MN, with the Class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Archie Banick October 5, 1957 at Holy Family Catholic Church at Bulldog Lake. After many years of marriage, they later divorced. Dorene helped with the family farm during the time of her marriage. After her divorce, she purchased a house in Brainerd, and lived there the rest of her life. She worked many years at Acrometal in Brainerd, where she retired. She is survived by her children: Kevin (Jean) Banick, Sheryl (Jay DiMatteo) Christensen, and Karen (Tom) Brisk; her Grandchildren: Krystal (Mark) Otto, Jessica (Aric) Holicky, April (Ben) Vogt, Dylan (Carly Hayes) Christensen, Alexis (Mitch Russel) Christensen, Sierra Christensen, Marie (Jason) Jay, Curtis Brisk and Kayla Brisk; Great Grandchildren: Kyah, Deryk, Kayden, Riley, Tavin, Braysen, Olivia, Jocelyn, Neil, Trenton, Jenna and Jaden; and her brother, Jim (Colleen Wendland) Hettver. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton (Tony) and Rose (Smude) Hettver, her sister, Mary Galbreath, and sister-in-law Jane Hettver. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Paul Strommer officiating.
