Dorothy Newman Obituary Dorothy Mae Frerich Newman was born in Clear Lake, Minn, on April 2, 1928, the daughter of Bill and Beatta Frerich. She went to visit the Lord on January 30, 2024. She graduated from Little Falls High School.
Dorothy married Wally Newman in 1947. They had six children.
Dorothy was a member of the Nisswa American Legion, the Brainerd VFW, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and a secretary/treasurer for 20 years at the Pelican Lake Conservation Club. She was a secretary for 30 years for the Brainerd Eagles Club and served as past President. She was a hostess for trips to Las Vegas for 29 years.
Survivors are son, David (Sandy); daughters, Barbara High and Jane (John) Malloy; three brothers, Frank, Harold, and Roy; sister, Stella Swartzwald; brother-in-law, Jerry; daughter-in-law, Carol; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She also had many loving nephews, nieces, extended family members and friends.
Proceeding her in death was her husband, Wally; sons, Bruce and Ronald; daughter, Sandra Sibbert; brothers, Roland, Eugene, Willis, Arlin; and David; sisters, RoseAnn, Shirley, Sylvia, and Carol; grandsons Joseph High and Ronald Newman, Jr.; and niece, Cindy Kalve.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Nelson Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services.
