Duane Henningson Obituary Duane F. Henningson, 86, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Duane was born on May 25, 1939, in Brainerd to Frederick (Fritz) and Florence Henningson. He graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Florence N. Barto, on June 25th, 1960, who he met as a sophomore. Duane grew up on a dairy farm south of Brainerd and was used to hard work. He started driving semi-trucks right out of high school. He worked for Consolidated Freightways and Glendenning Motorways. After Glendenning went out of business, he obtained his boiler license and worked for Brainerd School District #181 for over 20 years, until his retirement. After retirement, he could be found restoring old Farmall and Ford tractors, working on small engines, and drinking coffee with his social club. He was a proud member of the Brainerd Tractor Club, Lakes Area Law Enforcement, and the NRA. Duane was a devoted husband, passing just days before his 65th wedding anniversary. He was a proud father and grandfather and could often be heard boasting of his familys achievements. He is survived by his loving wife Florence (Barto) Henningson; his sons Craig (Kari), Curtis, and Calvin (Tiffany); his grandchildren, Cory (Kya) Henningson, Carman (Colten) Sunde, Ryan Henningson, Logan Henningson, and Savannah Henningson; and his great-grandchildren Logan and Lincoln Picha. He is preceded in death by his parents Frederick "Fritz" and Florence; infant sister, Caroline; and close cousin, Leroy Thompson. A celebration of Duanes Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour before services at the church or attend the evening visitation on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson Doran Funeral Home. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service and before the interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
