Duwayne DeRosier Obituary Duwayne Michael "PeeWee" DeRosier, age 72, died at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland on Saturday October 2, 2010 after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born September 14, 1938 at his childhood home in Fort Ripley Township to the late Lucien and Mabel (Avery) DeRosier. He attended the country schoolhouse near his home and graduated from Washington High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 - 1963. On November 27, 1968 he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Harrison in Little Falls, MN. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. Being the smallest man on the crew he was affectionately called "PeeWee" by his co-workers. He also worked at Potlatch Paper Mill. Together, PeeWee and Betty owned and operated The Canteen Supper Club from 1972-1976 and The Fort Steak House from 1969 until their retirement in 2002. PeeWee was a lifetime member of St. Mathias Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Brainerd American Legion Post 255, the MN Deer Hunters Association, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed time with family and friends, playing with his grandkids, deer hunting, fishing, horseshoe, watching sports and playing cards. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Betty, children Dan (Maureen) Riles of Fort Ripley, Richard (Kathy) Riles of Brainerd, Shawn (Mike) Poppen of Rice and Michelle DeRosier (Shane Thompson) of Fort Ripley; grandchildren Stacey, Jennie, Donald, Casey, Joshua, Rachel, Brynn, John, Elise and great grand-daughters Shayna and Amarria. He is survived by his brothers, Charles (Janeen) DeRosier and Ronald (Marie) DeRosier and sisters Lois Ehmke and Geri (Duane) Villnow. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Howard DeRosier and Peter DeRosier and sisters Charlotte Stevens, Opal Johns and Teresa Thesing. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Fort Ripley with Father Steve Laflamme officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery following the service. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 4 to 8 PM with parish prayers at 7 PM and the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of services.
