Elsie Borders Obituary Elsie Borders, 85, of Brainerd, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Essentia Health St. Josephs Medical Center. A Celebration of Elsies Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Nelson Doran Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior and a graveside service will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Elsie was born March 30, 1935, in Brainerd, the daughter of Earl and Nancy Kinney. She was baptized into Christ on March 23, 1943. After high school, she married Frank Borders on May 7, 1955. For 27 years, Elsie worked at the Brainerd State Hospital in a variety of capacities: switchboard operator, transcriptionist, and canteen manager. Elsie welcomed everyone into her home and her heart. She was always willing to lend a hand, cook a meal, or offer her advice. Elsie will be missed by her children, Brad Borders, of St. Paul, Brenda (John) Turner, of Brainerd, Belinda (Jim) Foster, of North Pole, AK, Bonnie (Randy) Wermter, of Brainerd, and Baille Williams, of Brainerd; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Pookie. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Ann; husband, Frank; granddaughter, Melissa Beth; and parents, Earl and Nancy.
