Obituary

His passion for baseball remained strong as he played and managed in the Pequot Lakes Amateur Baseball League for 25 years.

Francis "PeeWee" Thompson, age 84, died on July 25, 2026 at Silver Maple Assisted Living in Brainerd.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Known to everyone as "Peewee," he lived life with a deep love for family, baseball, and the outdoors. After a couple years of college, he pursued his dream of professional baseball, attending spring training with the Boston Red Sox before being traded to the Cincinnati Reds. He ultimately chose the greatest love of his life, his sweetheart Marie, and never looked back. His passion for baseball remained strong as he played and managed in the Pequot Lakes Amateur Baseball League for 25 years. Loving, caring, and comically impatient, Peewee also cherished time spent hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his kind heart, love of the game, and the joy he brought to those around him.

PeeWee is survived by his children, Kimberly Thompson and Troy (Becky) Thompson; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Brandon, Tyler, Carlie and Austin; 16 great grandchildren and one brother, Gary Thompson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marie; two brothers, Bobby and Jerry Thompson.
