George Penoncello, 96, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at the St. Cloud CentraCare hospital.

George was born to John and Mary Penoncello on May 27, 1929, in Chisolm, Minnesota. He grew up at a wonderful rural homestead in Wilpen Township, between Chisolm and Hibbing. In 1952, he married Elaine Beasy. Together, they raised four sons. George worked for several engineering and construction firms in Hibbing as a cost estimator. He swore that one day he would retire but worked well into his 70s.

In the winter months, he could be found at the Hibbing Curling Club where he joined the elite 8-ender club while curling with the Arnie Connor rink. His spouse, Elaine, passed away in 2007. He spent several years after her death traveling around the country to visit his sons and grandchildren. In 2014, he married Gerry Krautkremer. They lived in Brainerd at the time of George's death.

George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, his wife, Elaine, and his grandson, Greg. He is survived by his wife, Gerry, four sons, Steve (Jean), Joe, Doug, and John, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

George lived a long, wonderful life and left behind an amazing legacy. At his request, there will be no service.
