Obituary

Harold Fallgren Obituary Harold Martin Fallgren passed away on July 15, 2013 at Diamond Willow in Baxter Minnesota. He was born on December 21, 1922 to Anna (Helgeson) and John Fallgren in Benedict Minnesota. Harold attended elementary school in Benedict MN and graduated from high school at Laporte MN in the spring of 1940, second in his class. He worked at the CCC camp near Park Rapids MN during his high school years. After graduation he attended COYNE electrical school finishing in December 1940. In June 1941 he traveled to California to work for the Red River Logging Company with his brothers Ed and Carl. After the war broke out, he had aspirations of becoming a pilot and enlisted in the Army in 1943 hoping to make the Air Corp but was assigned as a mechanic for automotive wheeled vehicles and was deployed to Guam. While in the service he achieved the rank of Sergeant. After the war, he returned to Minnesota and worked various jobs and married Elnora Lillian Beard on September 15, 1946. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2006. During the early years of the marriage he worked on natural gas conversions, including some time on the East Coast. In 1952 he moved his family to Finland MN where he worked on construction of Reserve Mining Company. He worked for Reserve until he retired in 1982. He was well liked and respected by everybody he worked with. He was active in the local Boy Scouts program for over 25 years. Harold and Lillian were among the founding members of the Palisade Baptist Church and remained active in the church until they moved to Brainerd in 2005. Survived by brother Carl, Hacienda Heights CA; daughter-in-law Beth (Martin) Fallgren, Sturgis SD; daughter Betty (Bob) Rohlfing, Brainerd MN; son Ron Fallgren, Benedict MN; son Rick (Byong) Fallgren, Glen Rock WY; son Craig (Kitty) Fallgren, Crosslake MN; daughter Roberta (Dick) Cosner, Brainerd MN; daughter Loretta Fallgren, Robbinsdale MN; son, Roger (Julie) Fallgren, Aitkin MN; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Anna and John, his wife Lillian, son Martin, brothers Ed and Leo, and sisters Agnes Miller, Lilly Hutchinson and Marlene Reppert. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Black Hills VA at Sturgis SD or your local veterans organization are suggested. Services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:30 at the Communitas Church, 824 Laurel Street, Brainerd MN. Burial will be at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
