James Evenson Obituary Jim was born May 26, 1958, in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of Eugene and Donna (Momerak) Evenson. At a young age Jims family moved to Brainerd, settling in the St. Matthias area. Jim graduated from high school in 1976. He then attended Staples Technical School. Afterwards he moved to Coon Rapids and worked 38 years as a machinist for Kurt Manufacturing. Jim loved many activities including deer hunting, fishing, wood working, dancing, riding motorcycles, and photography. He loved cooking, spending hours looking up new recipes. He also loved to bake. His Christmas bars were always a favorite at family gatherings. Jim died too soon of natural causes on February 25, 2024. Jim was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda (Anderson); daughter Kristina, son Owen, and grandsons Nathan and Landon. He is also survived by brothers Paul (Linda), Dave, Mark (Dave), and Matt (Deb), numerous nieces, and nephews, aunts, and uncles. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dan, and stepfather Marv Mertens. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home from 1:00-4:00pm, followed by interment at Pine Tree Cemetery. A luncheon will be served afterwards.
