James Falconer Obituary James Allen Falconer, 84, of Brainerd, died Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Essentia-St, Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd with his daughter, Jeri, and two of his grandsons, Beau and William, by his side. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather for one hour prior to the service and to stay for lunch immediately following the service. Military honors will be conducted by the Brainerd American Legion Post 255. Jim was born on October 23, 1939, in Grand Forks, ND to Wesley and Selma (Stavig) Falconer. He and his twin sister, Janet, were the last two of 9 siblings, He graduated from East Grand Forks High School, after which he was proud to serve his country in the U.S Army stationed in Panama. After his service, he returned to North Dakota and joined up with his buddies as the drummer in their band and hes been entertaining people ever since. One night his sister, Janet, brought her best friend out to dance & watch him play. That friend, Marylee "Fuzzy" Williams, became the love of Jims life. They loved and laughed and danced together until Fuzzy passed, in 2021. Jims career path after the Army included managing Clarks Gas Stations from Grand Forks to Thief River Falls to Brainerd where he changed careers and joined the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. He was also a Volunteer Fire Fighter and proud 30-year member of the VFBA Board serving as Board Secretary until he retired. He was active in the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and Color Guard, the VFW, the Elks, and the Eagles. Whether playing drums or guitar, singing or leading karaoke, competing on the bowling lanes or the golf course, writing a letter to the editor, or standing at the corner of the bar, you always knew what he thought! And, if he teased you or gave you a hard time, you soon came to understand that this was his "love language"! Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; three brothers; his wife, Marylee "Fuzzy"; his daughter, Pamela (Falconer) Svendsen; and his son, James "Chip" Falconer. He is survived by three sisters: Beverly Thompson, Carole Piontek, and twin sister, Janet (Jack) Kist, West Fargo, ND; one brother-in-law, Michael (Bella) Williams, Pillager MN; daughter, Jeri (Greg) Holst, San Diego, CA; grandchildren; great grandchildren; plus, many nieces and nephews. Among Jims friends and family, the initial reaction to hearing of his passing universally includes the thought, "Jim and Fuzzy are together again" and theyre dancing.
