James Klang Obituary James Byron Klang, age 89, resident of Brainerd, passed away February 5, 2025, at his home. Jim was born March 4, 1935, in Brainerd to William and Mildred (Carruth) Klang. Jim married Alice Gonsior in 1960 in Browerville, MN 64 years ago. He retired after 35 years from MDOT. He served 30 years with the National Guard. Jim was a lifetime member of the Elks, a legion member and a member of St. Francis Church. Survivors include his wife, Alice; son Brian (Jolene) Klang; daughter Janet Klang (Scott Sloan); eight grandchildren, Kayli, Jayce, Dayne, Alix, Erin, Jamie, Lindsey and Morgan; two brothers, Bill and David; two sisters, Rosemary Graham and Janice Mooney. Preceded in death by two daughters, Karla and Barbara; his parents; and two sisters, Myrt and Maggie The Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be at 11am followed by the Memorial Service on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home with a visitation starting one hour prior to services. Private family burial will be at the MN Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you send memorials to St. Francis Catholic Church, the Brainerd Elks Club, or the Brainerd American Legion.
