James 'Jim' Russell Obituary James "Jim" Russell, 90, of Brainerd, passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to service for visitation. Services will be held at the North Star Camp located at 11287 Eagleview Dr. NE, Brainerd, MN. James Leland Russell was born November 26, 1932, in Ottertail County, Minnesota, the son of Charles and Eva (Chapman) Russell. Jim was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. During high school at Maplewood Academy, Jim attended church and saw the beautiful Maureen Kiley playing the organ. He looked at his brother and said: Im going to marry that girl. And they were married in August of 1952. They have been blessed with more than 71 years together and four wonderful children. Jim was a hard worker who often went above and beyond for his customers. He and his brother-in-law, Don Peterson owned and operated Jim and Dons Concrete for 32 years before he retired in 1994. Jim and Don were known for their quality and honesty and enjoyed making connections with many builders in the area. But more than that, Jim invested time in his family and ensured they knew how important each one of them were. He never shied away from lending a hand, or a few logs of firewood. He enjoyed waterskiing and gardening. Jim was a kind, gentle man who had a strong Faith and a heart for serving others. Jim will be missed by his wife, Maureen; children, Bruce (MaryAnn), Tom (Kim), Scott (Kerrie) and Penny (Jack) Stanley; grandchildren, Brandon, Trent (Katie), Jonathan (Jaclyn), David (April), Matthew (Autumn), Kerrin (Christopher) Bradford, Shawn (LeeAnna) Stanley, Aaron (Jenna) Stanley, Jamie (Ben) Vasconcellos, and Kassie (Zach) Skogen; greatgrandchildren, Kaden, Lucy, Robby, William, Carolyn, Samuel, Lewis, Leland, Paxton Bradford, Blaine Skogen, Wells Skogen, and Jalen Stanley; and sisters, Addie Olson and Alvina (Don) Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth, Nina, Ferne, Dorothy, and Nettie; brother, Charles; and great-grandson, Noah.
