With full hearts and deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of James "Jim" Roland Tobiason on September 21, 2025. Surrounded by his beloved wife and children, Jim took his last breath on a still and quiet evening at Camp Lake — his favorite place. His final moments were filled with the laughter of his family, the sound of children playing, and the love he built surrounding him.

Jim was the devoted husband of Joyce Tobiason, with whom he shared 61½ beautiful years of marriage. Their love story was the center of his world. For more than six decades, they walked side by side through every joy and challenge, building a life filled with laughter, devotion, and unwavering partnership.

He was also a proud father of Kimberly Tobiason Caouette, Karen (Joseph) Moe, and James (Melissa) Tobiason. He was blessed with grandchildren Brianna (Bob), Danielle (Mark), Courtney, Dylan, and Bailey (Hunter), and great-grandchildren Noah, Thatcher, Theodore, Cooper, and Rhett, who were the sparkle in his eye. He is also survived by his sister Jean Robinson.

Jim was a man of quiet strength — and sometimes not-so-quiet strength. He could be gentle, but he also knew when to be firm, when to speak his mind, and when to push those he loved to be their very best.

In retirement, Jim found deep contentment with Joyce at their little slice of heaven on Camp Lake. He took pride in his perfectly kept lawn, loved evening pontoon rides, and his morning card game of hand and foot. Those peaceful moments were his gift to himself, a reflection of a life well-lived and a love well-nurtured.

Jim had a servant's heart. He always asked, "Do you need help with anything?" — even in his final days. From his career in Human Resources at Mate Precision Tooling to the way he encouraged his friends, family, and even strangers, Jim dedicated his life to helping others grow, succeed, and feel valued. He was especially proud to be a father figure to those who didn't have one, offering guidance, kindness, and a steady example of what it meant to be a good man.

Jim's legacy is one of love, laughter, and generosity. He believed in lifting others up, making sure no one felt left behind, and reminding those around him of their worth. His family was his greatest pride, and his encouragement will continue to shape the lives of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who were lucky enough to know him.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Mounds View, MN. Fellowship will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service and luncheon at 11:00a.m., a celebration of life will continue at Sunset Bar and Grill from 2:30-6:30. Friends and family are invited to share memories, tell stories, and honor the man whose love will forever ripple through their lives — much like the waters of the lake he so dearly cherished.

Of all the things Jim built in this life, his greatest creation was the life and love he shared with his Joyce — a love that will endure beyond this life, as steady and true as the quiet lake they called home.
