Janet E. Lamser, 82, of Baxter, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Nordic Woods Assisted Living.

Born March 9, 1943, in Albia, Iowa, Janet was the daughter of Isaac and Delores (Wales) Dutemple. After graduating from Albia High School, she attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, where she earned her degree.

Life took a delightful turn when she met the love of her life, David Lamser, at a dance hall in Hackensack. They married on May 17, 1967. Together they shared many adventures while raising their family across Virginia, Chicago, and California during David's Navy service.

Janet's warmth and curiosity shone through her work in bookstores and hospitality—two paths that combined her love of reading and connecting with people. In later years, she shared her time and heart as a Foster Grandma at Garfield Elementary, where her gentle encouragement touched many young lives. She also found quiet joy in completing puzzles and spending time with family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, AnnMarie Lamser, Michael (Amy) Lamser, and Dorrie (Eric) Stotko; seven beloved grandchildren; and her siblings Jeanne (Gary) Settles and John (Mary Anne) Dutemple.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, David; sister, Joyce Mayer; and her parents.

Private family services will be held.

Her family will remember her for her kindness, curiosity, and the love she shared so freely.
