Janice Nelson Obituary Janice Ardell (Robertson) Nelson, age 81, passed away on May 25, 2014 with family by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Brainerd on February 1, 1933 to Jens and Hansena Robertson. She married Gerald Nelson on December 31, 1950 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They have lived in Brainerd the past 50 years, enjoying many winters in Arizona. Janice loved music, flower gardening, sewing, flea marketing, and spending time with her family and friends. She will also be missed by her family at the Almond House, where she received loving care the past few years. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; daughter, Geraldine (Ray) Peterson; sons, Jim Nelson and Gary (Cathy) Nelson all of Brainerd; grandchildren, Teresa (Tim) Nicholson, Pease, MN, Melanie (Ray) Leiding, Princeton, MN, Sarah (Dave) Goodman, Silver Thorne, CO, Elizabeth (Mark) Nelson, Scottsdale, AZ, Eli Nelson, Flagstaff, AZ, Anna (Josh) Rosenberg, Grafton, IA, Megan Nelson, Kayla Nelson, Brainerd; great grandchildren, Kylie and T.J. Nicholson, Dylan, Joshua, Matthew Leiding, Madelynn and Nolan Rosenberg. She was preceded in death by her sons, Alan and Scott Nelson, sisters, Bernice, Ruby, Helen and brothers, Marvin and Harold. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
