Jerome “Jay” John Felten, 87, of Brainerd, died Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by family.

Services arrangements are pending.

Jay was born February 1, 1939, in Pine City, to John and Ruby Felten. He graduated from Pine City High School. Jay planned to work in forestry but came to realize “fire lookout” was only a summer job. His year-round work began in the maintenance department at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, then the maintenance department at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, and finally 30 plus years as the Director of Maintenance in Brainerd at Essentia Health -St. Joseph’s Medical Center.

Jay enjoyed fishing, hunting, his children, and their children.

Jay is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arvilla (Voegele) Felten; his sons, Steven, Cameron, and Darren; daughter, Karolyn and their spouses; siblings, LeRoy “Butch” and LeLonnie; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Krisann Felten Haskins; and great-grandson, Lucas Paul Coe.
