Jerry "Tommy" Thedens, a beloved husband, father, friend, and patriot, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his country, his family, and those fortunate enough to know and love him.

Born and raised on a farm, Tommy grew up with the values of hard work, resilience, and integrity—principles that would guide him throughout his life. He served his country with great honor during the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star and the Gallantry Cross for acts of bravery and valor under fire. Though he never sought recognition, his service spoke volumes about the strength of his character and his deep sense of duty.

After returning home, Tommy began a long and respected career at Nabisco, where he worked diligently for 32 years. He was a man of quiet strength, dependable and humble, known by his coworkers for his work ethic and good humor.

But no title or accolade meant more to Tommy than being a devoted husband to Toni Raynell, his soulmate and best friend of 46 years. Their love story was one of laughter, loyalty, and joy. Whether cruising down the highway on his beloved motorcycle or enjoying a quiet evening at home, Tommy's favorite place was always by Toni's side. Toni, a remarkable homemaker with a heart full of love and a taste for adventure (and slot machines), was his perfect match. She rode with him every mile—on two wheels and through life—and their bond was truly unbreakable. Though Toni preceded him in death, their love remained a guiding presence in Tommy's life.

Together, they raised a family grounded in love and laughter. Whether sharing a quiet moment at home, a spirited game of pickleball or pool, or a fishing trip in the early morning hours, he found his greatest joy in simply being with those he loved.

In retirement, Tommy embraced life fully. He stayed active at the gym, swapping stories and encouragement with friends. He found camaraderie and purpose riding with the American Legion Riders, a brotherhood that brought him pride and peace. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing—but more than anything, he treasured the memories of those he loved and the time spent with family and friends.

Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Raynell Thedens; his parents; and his siblings, Geraldine and Patrick.

He is survived by his sister, Pam; his brothers, Mike and Dale; and many other cherished family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Tommy will be remembered not only for his heroism and hard work but for his warmth, loyalty, and unshakable devotion to those he loved. His was a life well-lived—rooted in honor, lifted by love, and defined by service.
