John Dieter Obituary John J. Dieter, age 80, of Brainerd passed away peacefully at his home in Brainerd on Thursday, May 16, 2024. A private family celebration of Johns life will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nelon-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd. John was born on February 15, 1944 in Brainerd; the son of Frank and Rose (Herner) Dieter. He is a graduate of Brainerd High School. John briefly worked at Burlington Northern; where he gained his love of trains. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1967 -1971; he was stationed in South Korea during this time. John married Kristine Adams on May 17, 1980. John worked as a machine operator for over 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, watching the birds, especially hummingbirds, sitting in the golden sun, traveling, and sharing his music on the keyboard. John was a loving husband and taught his children many great things. He loved playing with his grandchildren; often instigating shenanigans. John will be dearly missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kris; children, John, Jessica (Marcus) Kvistad; grandchildren, Callista, Eden, Kaitlyn, Colin, Evan; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Edward, Albert, Joe, and Rose Laughton.
