Joyce Johnson Obituary Joyce Johnson, age 94, died peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Woodland Good Samaritan Society in Brainerd. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 11-2:00 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Belle Prairie. Joyce was born in Little Falls to Edmund and Aurelia Doucette. She finished high school in Little Falls before attending St. Cloud Beauty School and went on to open her own hair salon in Brainerd for 22 years. Joyce then worked for 21 years bartending and six years at a Subway in Brainerd. Joyce was married to Alton "Bud" Johnson for almost 59 years, until his death in 2008. They unfortunately never had children of their own but cherished many others. She felt very blessed to have adopted great-grandson, Carter, along with his loving family who included her on many a Holiday. She also felt blessed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends. For all those who knew Joyce, she was the life of the party, adventuresome with the most daring spirit, which explains many of her hobbies like race car driving, skiing, snowmobiling, fourwheeling, roller skating, and traveling everywhere she could. Some of her milder hobbies included gardening, fishing, bicycling, golf, pool, playing cards, cribbage, and bowling (where she got a lot more traveling in). Her love for music and dancing was truly a passion. She enjoyed life to its fullest and wanted everyone to do the same. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; spouse; and siblings, Virginia Borash, Melvin, and Daniel Doucette and their spouses.
