Karen Johnson Obituary Karen Sue Johnson, age 68, of Brainerd passed away peacefully at Bethany Good Samaritan Home on December 24, 2023. A celebration of Karens life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be from 10:30AM until the time of service at church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd. Karen was born December 12, 1955, in Minneapolis at Swedish Hospital; the daughter of Robert and Joanne (Doshan) Johnson. She lived in Brainerd most of her life. Karen is a graduate of Brainerd High School and Vocational Technical School. While earning her secretarial degree, Karen represented the MN Office Education Association in Chicago, IL where she won 2nd place in a national competition. Karen enjoyed crocheting, doing ceramics, shopping, her two cats, and getting together with family: especially the annual 4th of July picnic. Karen lived bravely with her many health problems and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Karen is survived by her parents, Robert "Bob" and Joanne Johnson; brothers, Randy, and Steven (Dianna) Johnson; nieces, Brooke (Tyler) Johnson and Ashley (Doug) Schlapkohl; nephew, Matthew Benjamin; great-nephews, Abel, Myles, and Tyler; uncles, Bob Ferris, Danny (Jan) Doshan, Johnny Doshan; aunt, Vicki Cison; many cousins; and special friend, Kevin. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Middy Doshan, Art and Eleanor Johnson; uncles, Joe, Gary, and David Doshan; auntie, Bevy; and cousin, Lena. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the American Diabetes Association, The First Lutheran Church or donors choice for memorial contributions.
