Katherine Clauson Obituary Katherine Cahoon Spirra Clauson died early Easter morning, April 20, 2025, with her 3 daughters by her side. Thankfully, she was able to remain in her home, which she called Paradise, happy and comfortable until her passing. She celebrated her 95th birthday on April 15th! Whether you knew her as Katherine, Kathy, Katie, Kate, Aunt Tommy, or in your early years as Mrs. Spirra, she always greeted you with a smile and a warm, sincere hello! Kathys spirit, love and laughter will live on in our hearts and those whose lives she touched forever.
Born in 1930 to William Frank and Charlotte Emmaline Cahoon in Brainerd, she graduated from Onamia High School in 1947. Kathy was a hairdresser for 50 years before retiring and marrying Bill. Kathy and Bill enjoyed a life of travels over the years, driving all over the USA as well as visiting Australia and New Zealand. At home, shed be working on her crosswords or trying to skunk you in a game of cribbage! The door was always open to her large extended family and many friends. No one left hungry and they were always welcomed back. She loved Cardinals, so remember "When Cardinals appear Angels are near" and think of our Mom.
Kathy is survived by daughters Rhonda, Tamara and Sharon; grandchildren Brittany (Brian), Collin, Meghan (Pat), and Morgan (Dave); great-grandchildren Damian, Campbell, Tommy, Russell, Patrick and Joseph; sister-in-law Karen and many loving nieces and nephews.
Kathy is reunited with her loving husband, Bill; her son, Bill; grandson, Ken Jr.; great-grandson, Jacob; sons-in-law, Jerry and Russ and sister-in-law Sandy. She was the last surviving Cahoon sibling pre-deceased by her brothers, Jesse and Allen, sisters, Evelyn and Wilma and her parents.
Please join us in celebrating Kathys life on June 21st at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree or donate to your favorite charity in her memory.
