Kathleen Mary O'Brien (Kathy), age 94, was called into the loving arms of Jesus on December 2, 2025.

Kathy was born on November 30, 1931 in St. Paul, MN to Leo and Ida Klein. She grew up in Brainerd,

attended Saint Francis Catholic School and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1949. She worked for

Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 20 years and for the Women, Infant and Children (WIC)

supplemental nutrition program for 10 years.

Kathy was united in marriage to Don O'Brien on February

23, 1952 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Don and Kathy were married for 68 years until Don's

passing in 2020. She was a member of a number of service organizations and sang in church and

independent choirs.

She had a special gift – she loved spending time "chatting" with anyone who would

listen, making her volunteer work at Woodland Acres and The Brainerd Manor a perfect fit. She

especially enjoyed spending time with her family and special friends.

Kathleen is survived by her sons, Michael (Julie) of East Gull Lake, MN and Shawn (Karla) of Brainerd,

MN, A brother, Joe Klein (Barb), four grandchildren, Jade, Brittany, Justin, Shawna and four great

grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband (Don), parents, Leo and Ida, brothers, Walter, Raymond, Donald and a sister, Rose.

A funeral service will be held at Nelson Doran funeral home on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 2:00 pm.

Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service.
