Lawrence 'Larry' Dols Obituary Lawrence 'Larry' Dennis Dols, 90, passed away on December 10, 2024, at Northern Lakes Senior Living in Baxter. Larry was born in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, seventh child of John and Anna (Rademacher) Dols. He grew up on a small farm near Sauk Lake with his seven brothers and two sisters. His father loved to fish (a lifelong love that was passed along to Larry). His mother loved to garden, and Larry pitched in to pick berries and help in the garden. When there was time after the chores, he went fishing and swimming. He attended St. Paul Catholic School through eighth grade and Sauk Centre High School. After working in mines in Virginia, Minnesota for a year, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training, he went to Illinois to learn to repair airplane radios. He was assigned to the Strategic Air Command in Austin, Texas. From there he went to a base in Greenland for a year. For the final year of his service, he was happy to be stationed in Denver, Colorado. While he was still in the service, he began writing to a nurse who was introduced to him by his sister-in-law. When he came home, he met the nurse, Donna Nistler. Larry and Donna were married at Holy Cross Church in Pearl Lake, Minnesota. Larry and Donna raised their family in St. Joseph, Minnesota. After a short time living in St. Cloud, they moved to Brainerd. They became members of St. Andrews Catholic Church, where they volunteered for many years as Contribution Analysts. Larry was a devout Catholic. Larry worked for Stone Container as a pressman for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. Larry enjoyed camping trips with family to northern Minnesota. He absolutely loved fishing and spending time at their cabin in Pine River. He also enjoyed biking and walking every day. He especially cherished spending time with his family. Larrys final months were spent in the memory care unit of Northern Lakes Senior Living in Baxter. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Northern Lakes, and later the caregivers from Moments Hospice, for their loving care of Larry. Survivors include his wife Donna, brother John (Darlene), Sauk Centre, sister Terry Pelzer, St. Cloud, sons Jeff (Maria), Inver Grove Heights, Joe (Diane), Prior Lake, Kenn (Colleen), Brainerd, Lisa (Joe) Thompson, Shoreview. Grandchildren, Rachel, Anshel, Stephen, Eric, Jackson, Quinton, Colten, Sebastian and Sofia. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosie, brothers Ray, Ewald, Florian, Virgil, Jerry and Leonard. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 18th at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Fr. Gabriel Waweru officiating. a visitation will start one hour prior to Services at the church. Burial will take place at 2:00 pm the same day at Minnesota Veterans Cemetery next to Camp Ripley.
