Lois Jensen Obituary Lois I. Jensen, age 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Bethany Good Samaritan in Brainerd, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa, MN. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00AM at the church. There will be a luncheon after the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd, MN. Lois was born on June 17, 1942 in Brainerd; the daughter of Harold and Irene (Pietz) Yde. She grew up on Rice Lake; where she enjoyed fishing, boating and staying active outdoors. Lois and her family would put on water skiing shows for neighbors on the lake and in the winter, alpine and/or nordic skiing in coordinating black and red outfits. As a teen, she worked for her father at Ydes Decorating and lifeguarding at Lum Park all while holding many student offices in high school. Lois is a 1960 graduate of Washington High School in Brainerd. She furthered her education at St. Cloud State University, where she obtained her teaching degree. While at St. Cloud State University she met her lifelong friends, which they lovingly named themselves the "Robinettes." She married Richard Jensen in 1965. Lois started her teaching career in Golden Valley, MN where she taught physical education; she coached synchronized swimming, volleyball, and softball. The family moved back to Brainerd in 1971. Lois was involved in Campfire Girls, Girls Scouts, Director for Camp Vanasek, being a loving mother, and helping to run the couple's construction company. Lois and Richard later divorced. Lois went on to receive her masters degree in administration. She moved to Jasonville, Indiana in 1984 to work as the administrator of Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Home. In 1997, Lois moved to Pine River, MN to continue her work as an administrator at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She started playing the piano when she was 7 years old and played for local churches for over 60 years; even teaching her grandchildren their first lessons. Lois enjoyed baking. Her famous caramel rolls and chocolate chip cookies were always a hit. She spent time crocheting, doing needle point, as well as a lot of sewing for her family. She walked strongly in her faith and was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross since 1997. Lois was strong, faithful, independent, and loved unconditionally. She was hospitable and a great entertainer; it did not matter who you were, you were always welcome. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Lois is survived by her son, Rick (Lana) Jensen; grandchildren, Indio, Aydyn, Ellie, Sophie; son-in-law, Mark Dowd; brother-in-law, Larry Lintner; sister-in-law, Lorraine Yde; nieces, April Fourr, Kari Lintner; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lori Jo Dowd; brother, Markson Yde; and sister, Shirley Lintner. One of her favorite bible verses was Psalm 118:24 'This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.'
