Lorraine Bemis Obituary Lorraine Josephine Bemis, 93, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Essentia Health St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd. Lorraine was born March 27, 1930, in Olivia, the daughter of James and Josephine (MacHolda) Svitak. She graduated from Olivia High School and attended Minneapolis Business College. On June 5, 1967, she married Walter E. Bemis. She loved to garden, cook, sew, travel, and volunteer. Lorraine was very active in the community. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Lydia Circle. She was a member of Bay Lake Hospital Auxiliary and charter member of Garrison Lioness Club. She established both the Garrison Norther Lights Garden Club (1996) and Brainerd Lakes Neighborhood Branch of American Sewers Guild (1991). She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (2002). She is survived by her step-daughter, Barbara Jorgensen; step-granddaughter, Emily Frazier; and step-great-grandchildren, Ella and Blaine. Funeral Services for Lorraine will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services and stay for a luncheon to follow. Interment will take place at Bay Lake Cemetery. Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church Brainerd.
