Lyle Foster Obituary Lyle E. Foster was born Aug. 8, 1933 in Oakes, North Dakota and was the son of Alfred Orwell (A.O.) Foster and Esther (McCleery) Foster. He graduated from Oakes High School in 1951. He entered the Air Force and was stationed in the Philippines as a Radio Operator from 1952 until 1956. He went on to receive a bachelors degree from UND in 1960. On Aug. 20, 1960 he married Elizabeth Bauck in Perham, MN and they settled in the Minneapolis area where he worked for the Commercial Credit Corporation and later worked as a sales representative for Texaco. In 1965 they moved to Morris, MN where he owned and operated a Ben Franklin store. In 1970, after having gone back to school and receiving a BS from Moorhead State, he taught Sales and Marketing at Brainerd Technical College until 1990. During that time he also earned a Masters Degree from Bemidji State. Following retirement from teaching, he worked for the Village Family Service Center out of Fargo as a Consumer Credit Counselor for 4 years. He served on many boards and committees at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Lyle enjoyed walleye fishing, hunting and spending time with family and relatives at the cabin on Little Pine Lake in Perham. He was preceded in death by his parents A.O. and Esther Foster and sister Jean (Foster) Hefley. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Elizabeth; daughter Jill (Tim Cassady) of Elk River, Jane Edmundson of Ironton, Scott Foster (Sara) of Brainerd, Grandchildren, Renee (Josh) Voller, Tom (Sam) Cassady, Andy (Michele) Cassady, Nicholas Braesch, Evan and Ben Edmundson, Meg, Ian and Isaac Foster; and 4 great grandchildren. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Steve Benson officiating. Visitation will begin the hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Minnesota Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home.
